York Knives date to late 1950's to mid 1990's, this particular style and finish (leather wrap handle) suggests a knife from the mid-1960's. Classic fixed blade hunting knife of the day - prior to composite materials and locking (folding) blades. CONDITION: BLADE NEEDS SOME CLEANING PERHAPS TO HIGHLIGHT ORIGINAL COLORATION. SOME NOTICEABLE PITTING ACROSS THE BLADE. KNIFE EDGE DOES NOT SHOW SIGNS OF EXCESSIVE SHARPENING . 10" TOTAL LENGTH WITH LEATHER BOUND GRIP IN SOLID CONDITION WITH SOME CRACKING, PERHAPS A BIT DRY AND READY FOR CONDITIONING. LEATHER SHEATH IS DRY AND COULD ALSO BE CONDITIONED BY BUYER. THE SNAP ON THE HANDLE GUARD IS MISSING AND LEATHER IS WORN WITH SOME DAMAGED STICHING, RUSTED RIVITS AND NOTICEABLE WATER DAMAGE DUE TO AGE AND WEAR. THE CAP ON THE POMMEL IS FIRM AND NEEDS CLEANING AS WELL. History:he York Cutlery Co. was located on Market St. in York, PA. His early imports were from Germany, though later ones came from Japan and also Korea.
