Transparent pens were known as "demonstrators" in the 1920's because they were used to illustrate the pen's internal mechanism from salesmen to pen dealers. Manufacturing transparent pens is costly because it is fairly difficult to polish a pen on the inside, so even the smallest flaw tends to be visible. Transparency allows one not only to see the pen's mechanism but also to monitor its ink level. Avatar UR Demo is manufactured in four colors and two shades,2 full demo and 2 half demo. We've fitted all our pens with a simple "word gauge" that allows you to monitor the ink level and thus avoid being left... high and dry! Ink level, or word gauge, is a level indicator that's fairly easy to install in a converter, but the tricky part has been making roller and ballpoint refills in transparent plastic and gel ink equipped with an ink level; in fact, they are unique and unparalleled anywhere in the world, another reason for joining the exclusive Pineider writing collection club. Comfort Grip: Another innovation that Pineider is introducing with its Avatar UR Demo line is the comfort grip section lined in soft rubber that offers an extremely comfortable grip, making writing a relaxing and pleasant pass time. Comfort grip can easily be replaced and, aside from anything else, it imparts a soft effect to the pen's magnetic closure. Material: The new material is an extremely pure transparent resin developed for Pineider in Florence, to which we have given the name Ultraresin . UltraResin is extremely firm and its outstanding specifications mean that it is superior even to celluloid, the writing industry's traditional material. Not only is it virtually as hard as metal, however; it is also so unbelievably shock-resistant that one might almost call it unbreakable and it is resistant to oil, ink, electricity, high and low temperatures, ultraviolet rays and the elements. Pineider's engineers have also worked hard on the aesthetic aspect, producing a luxury product with a gleaming, polished surface and a deep mother-of-pearl effect, with marbled colours, with deep and equally transparent single colors. UltraResin means there's no need to worry about dropping the pen and breaking it, which can often be the start of a nightmare that frequently ends in having to ship the pen back to the manufacture and to wait endlessly for it to return. And last but not least, we should not forget its resistance to heat, celluloid's weak spot, which makes UltraResin a material for all seasons and for any kind of climate, be it tropical or near-Arctic. Colors: The Demo collection comes in four colours: transparent, amber, wine red and sky blue. The first two are completely transparent, while wine red and sky blue are semi-transparent. GlueLess technology: The pen is assembled with a new technology known as GlueLess. Thanks to its having been designed in 3D and to the highest possible precision being implemented throughout the manufacturing process, the pen is assembled without a single drop of glue being employed in the process. Each component part slots into the next like a meccano toy. Cap Closure: A slender ring protects the magnet from corrosion and ensures that the cap closes safely and securely.
