Description: Delavan Lake is a census-designated place in Walworth County, Wisconsin. It is located near the shore of Delevan Lake. The lake is a 1906 acre-lake 2072. The earliest resort on Lake Delevan was a small hotel around 1875 and the next 20 years saw a building boom of private houses, hotels and resorts. Most of the residents were summer retreats for Chicagoans who came up on the train. During the early 1900s, Delavan became a recognized art center. The Chicago Art Institute held summer classes here for 15 years. Famous artists that had studios here include William T. Thorne, Adolph and Ada Schultz, Frank Dudley and Frank Phoenix. This card, post marked around this time, 1915, was published by ”E.A. Bishop, Racine Wis”. It is in good condition with minor wear and a clean, clear, nicely colored image of a dare devil about ready to “High Dive” into Delavan Lake. There is a minor stubbed corner left bottom and a cancelation pressure mark in the upper left. The reverse is clean. The colors on the card may vary due to the scanner settings and screen projections.Unless otherwise noted, I use Wikipedia, Playle's and Metropostcard for research and try to be as accurate as possible.
