Description: This charming piece of serve ware has a rectangular underplate with a cover to keep the cheese fresh while adding an elegant touch to the presentation. The pastel shaded background has a swirled pattern throughout and finished with a scalloped edge on the underplate. The cheese underplate and cover were made before 1850 and are unmarked which is indicative of the time as any pottery produced after 1850 had to adhere to laws that pottery must be marked (see pic). Other than normal wear which includes manufacturing flaws, glaze imperfections and crazing commensurate with age, this is considered to be in good vintage condition.
