Description: Presented is a wonderful quality sterling silver pitcher for hot water pot or hot milk pitcher made by the Gorham Manufacturing Company. The pot has an ornate handle topped with raised leaf and scroll decoration. There are two classical portrait medallions at the upper juncture of the handle at the body. The pot has a domed lid mounted with a pineapple finial. The body of the pot is nicely engraved with flowers, scrolls and leaves. One side of the pot is monogrammed with JC & SAB, and the other side is engraved with the date January 1st, 1866. The pitcher is marked on the underside with Gorham’s old company hallmarks, Gorham & Co., and a product number. The pot is in good condition overall. The piece has some surface wear commensurate with age and light use, and there are some dents and dings to the lower part of the body, which could be removed by any silversmith. Although this is not necessary. There are no splits, no breaks, and no repairs. The pot measures 5 1/2 inches wide from handle to spout and 8 3/4 inches tall.
