1980's Factory Franchi Model AL-48 28" 12 Ga. Vent Rib Barrel Choked "Modified"

Description: This is a factory-original Franchi 12 gauge Model AL-48 shotgun barrel that is 28" inches long, has a 2.75" inch hard chrome-plated chamber and barrel extension, a handsome ventilated rib with a serrated top surface to eliminate glare, and it is fit with a silver bead front sight. This barrel is marked by F.I.E. as the importer, which means the barrel was made between 1982 and 1989, the only period in which this company imported Franchi shotguns. As you can see from the pictures, it is in excellent condition overall, and shows VERY little evidence of ever having been used. It very well might have been an extra barrel, or a take-off shortly after the gun was bought in favor of another length or choke. This barrel shows no mechanical wear or damage to it, as it is 100% free of any dents, bulges, pitting, manufacturing defects, or repairs of any kind. It is totally original and as not been cut-down or modified in any way. The ventilated rib is also in perfect shape, and is 100% solidly attached to the barrel. A surefire test to see if the vent rib has come loose at any point along the length of the barrel is to suspend it in the air by the chamber area and tap it with a hard object lightly. If the rib is solid it will ring like a triangle. If it is loose at any point it will thud and not ring at all. Please look at all of the pictures to see the condition of the barrel with your own eyes, and if you want a picture of something not in the listing, contact us and ask for it. With that said, the FACTORY-ORIGINAL gloss-blue finish is still bright and shiny, the markings/stampings on the barrel are all crisp, clean, and 100% legible, and the bore is mirror-bright and pristine with ZERO visible imperfections. The barrel extension on this barrel and the chamber of the barrel are both in like-new condition, and will likely stay that way because of the factory-applied hard-chrome finish to both parts. There is no staining or visible damage to the hard-chrome finish, only some dried-up gun oil in some of the cracks and crevices. The magazine tube ring on the bottom of the barrel looks like-new, and shows no wear, dents, or damage of any kind. This barrel is a fixed choke barrel, as it was made before interchangeable choke tubes that screwed inside the barrel became a common feature in any shotgun. This barrel is choked "Modified", by far the best choke for versatility.
